Truth be told, some people at the time thought that this comic books story shouldn’t have been written because of the current circumstances and how they were involved in a World War. The thing that makes this comic historical among others, is that it’s one of the only comics around that has a realistic enemy the Nazis. ![]() More onto the history of this comic, Captain America Winter Soldier first debuted during World War II being one of the earlier super hero comics, but it wasn’t until May 2005 that Bucky made his comeback from the dead as an enemy of Captain America. That being said, this conflict presents one of the greatest twists in super hero comic book history. On the other hand, something that sets the Winter Soldier aside from other super hero comics is that a childhood friend and battle mate of the Captain not only dies, but returns alive after all, but brainwashed and determined to destroy Captain America. For example, Captain America faces a super villain hell bent on destroying the world and obtaining power and riches all for himself the Nazi Party. This comic in particular is similar and different to those of its genre in certain ways. Plus, she’s 6 feet tall and not the smoothest talker out there. Kate’s a bit of an ugly duckling, with coke bottle glasses and boots with fruit on them and stubbly legs. We’ve got a story within a story, as we read both about Kate’s experiences as well as her writing process. Kate Bjorkman, aka Boo, is the author and narrator of this book, and she is hilarious.
